Qs FROM CONSTITUENTS: ON WASTE MANAGEMENT
This blog series explores some of the questions I have been asked by Grey Highlands' constituents. This post reviews the questions asked of all candidates at the Eugenia All Candidates Meeting on Oct 1, 2022.
The following posts originated from questions from the Eugenia All Candidates Debate. The following are the question topics:
Waste Management
The recent decision by staff and council related to waste management was approved despite vocal opposition. This new plan entails trucking our garbage 228 km away which does not align with the climate crisis declared by Grey Highlands.
Would you have supported this decision and why?
As they say, the Devil is in the details.
Yes, I absolutely support this decision; the winning proponent truck uses a renewable natural gas-powered fleet and not diesel, and, in the World of Evil Things, renewable natural gas has fewer GHG emissions than diesel. In fact, there would be fewer GHG emissions from a renewable natural gas-fueled vehicle running 228 KMs away than a diesel-fueled truck within the Grey Highlands boundaries.
Oh, and this fuel is cheaper, too.
See all the questions I have been asked throughout the 2022 Campaign!
